On your first visit to Gotta Sauna Studio, you will be greeted by one of our friendly staff members. We will ask you to take a minute to read over necessary material and sign our release waiver. You will then be escorted to your own private suite and instructed on the basic use of our saunas.
Wear whatever you feel most comfortable in while in the sauna. Most people prefer shorts and a t-shirt or sweats. Bathing suits are fine and some people even sauna in their street clothes. All suites are equipped with three towels, hooks for hanging your clothing and lighting that is customizable to your preference. At some point during your first session, a staff member will check in to see how you are doing and ask if your heat level is perfect or needs to be adjusted. If you become too hot at any point during your session, you can simply push the pod open, adjust the pod yourself or you can always stop your session and get out early.
As your sauna begins the bed's vibrating massage will start. This feels heavenly and is designed to stimulate your lymph system and start the detoxification process. A moment later you will begin to feel the warmth of the sauna start to heat your body. The heat is infrared heat and may be like nothing you have ever felt before. Infrared heat uses Far Infrared Rays (FIR) that can penetrate up to 3" of bone and muscle to melt away chronic pain.
During the session, relax and listen to the sounds of an ocean surf, a gentle rain or nothing at all. The sauna pod is designed so that your head is always out in the open. You may also bring your own head phones or ear buds and listen to your favorite music, inspirational speaker or whatever you choose.
After a few sessions, once your body gets acclimated to the sauna, you will have a decision to make. Do you always want to stay in relaxation mode and enjoy the warm cozy massage on low heat, or do you want to bump up the temperature and really get your sweat on? On the higher settings a 30 minute session can burn up to 600 Calories, increase your core temperature and heart rate which will boost your metabolism.
Please take care not to overheat during your first few sessions. Remember, if you feel uncomfortable, simply adjust the heat to a lower setting or end your session early by simply pushing the lid up and get out of the sauna. Each suite also has call buttons for assistance. As the body continues to adjust, sweating can increase dramatically and body temperature regulation becomes more effective. An increase in heartbeat of up to 30% above the resting pulse is generally considered safe, unless a medical or heart condition requires keeping your pulse rate lower.
After the session is over most people find themselves relaxed and invigorated at the same time. When the sauna shuts off your body doesn't know that your session is over and will continue to burn calories as it cools itself down and regulates temperature. You should not shower immediately after a sauna session as you will want to finish your sweat and let the body cool down naturally. Now is the time to replenish your system by drinking lots of natural spring water or natural fruit juice. You will want to avoid alcohol and caffeine immediately after a sauna session because they will further dehydrate your body.
